Homebuyer education
HEA provides an eight hour curriculum HUD Certification Curriculum to students who are required to obtain First Time Homebuyer Education in order to qualify for government subsidies such as DownPayment Assistance. As a HUD Certified Housing Counseling Agency, our programs are held to a higher standard and are provided free of charge.
This comprehensive course is presented in three components:
Part I - Budget & Credit - Managing Your Money, Developing & Living Within a Budget, What is Credit and How Does it Affect Your Buying Power
Part II - The Home Buying Process - Finding and Working with A Realtor & Lender, Understanding Mortgage Products, Government Downpayment Assistance, Finding and Selecting the Right Home, Reviewing the Closing Documents
Part III - Maintaining Your Home & Keeping It - Avoiding Scams and Predatory Lending Practices, Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention, Home Maintenance Tips, Budgeting for the Unexpected
Upon completion, participants will receive certification to participate in government downpayment assistance programs which certificate is good for a period of two years.
