Walter Walker is HEA's Director of Education and he has more than 35 years as a professional public speaker, trainer and counselor with a focus on housing and community development. He has over 16 years experience with First Time Home Buyer Programs and educating prospective home owners on topics such as understanding budgeting, credit, mortgages, real estate and the closing process. He is a NeighborWorks Certified Foreclosure Prevention Specialist, and co-authored a book to help families facing foreclosure entitled "The American Nightmare – Strategies for Preventing, Surviving and Overcoming Foreclosure." The book was endorsed by the Hispanic Association of Real Estate Professionals and Freddie Mac. It was printed in English and Spanish and received national recognition.
Walter appears regularly on local radio and television programs addressing housing issues and has been invited to participate on several panel discussions regarding the foreclosure crisis that are broadcast throughout the Tampa Bay area and beyond. He has participated and been invited to speak at dozens of foreclosure rescue fairs throughout the Tampa Bay area including those presented by Congresswoman Kathy Castor and Congressman Gus Bilirakis. Walter was also a speaker at NeighborWorks Author's Luncheon as well as panel discussions at the Annual Conference of the Hispanic Real Estate Professionals and featured in an article in Ebony magazine.
Walter is active in the community and serves on several boards and committees including the YMCA and
the Greater Tampa Association of Realtors.
